Dr. Lui unveils the HK Wuyi University Education Foundation Building

On 1 November, Dr Lui Che-woo, Chairman of K. Wah Group, and Mrs Lui, together with Alex Lui, Executive Director of KWIH, and management of the Group, officiated the opening ceremony of the Hong Kong Wuyi University Education Foundation Building (Phase I). The Board of the Hong Kong Wuyi University Education Foundation has committed to donations to build three student dormitories. Net income generated from these fixed assets will be used to finance education, scholarship and other developments to sustain the Foundation’s mission.

GEG cultivates national education in youth

GEG held the 6th Macau Youth Knowledge Competition of National Conditions as a title sponsor in June. The winning team went for a study tour to Guizhou arranged by the National Conditions Education Association (Macau) in August and visited various government departments. The trip enhanced young people’s sense of belonging and national pride.

The eye-opening mission for the youth

In collaboration with the Macau Management Association, GEG organised the third Youth Achievement Program, providing young people with personal enhancement and community outreach opportunities. At the closing ceremony held at StarWorld Hotel on 29 July 2014, outstanding members were presented with certificates and awards, and winners were invited to partake in a study tour to Sri Lanka. Through trainings, community activities and volunteering work, the youth explored their potential, learnt to work as a team, and applied their skills and knowledge to the work environment.

Dr. Lui creates oil painting for auction to support development of Fudan University

Dr. Lui Che-woo has been passionate in supporting education. As a Council Member of Fudan University, Dr Lui recently made his first attempt to create an oil painting, Village House, and donated it for a charity auction in July, raising HK$300,000 for the School of Management of Fudan University to support its development.

GEG nurtures future pillars

To enhance young people’s understanding of the tourism and hospitality industry, GEG specially offers students of Escola Luso-Chinesa Tecnico-Profissional a field trip to Galaxy Macau in mid-April, during which the students gain a better understanding of how a large-sale resort operates.

GEG youth experience life without sight

In early April, members of GEG Youth Achievement Program demonstrated their organisation and leadership skills through organising a community event in which more than 30 young people participated in the blindfold run and luncheon. Guided by members of Macau People with Visually Impaired Right Promotion Association, the workshop offered participants an experience of a life without sight, raising their awareness of eye health.
